LE BAKOUA

CONCEPT

For this project, the ambition is to reveal the hidden potential of an existing mountain apartment by converting an underused garage into a comfortable bedroom suite. Located in La Chapelle d’Abondance, the project explores how a modest technical space can be transformed into a natural extension of the home.

The intervention focuses on comfort, continuity, and spatial coherence. The former garage is reimagined as a warm and functional sleeping area, supported by improved insulation, integrated storage opportunities, and a more considered relationship with the existing apartment. The bathroom and adjoining spaces are redesigned to strengthen everyday use and bring the whole interior into a more harmonious balance.

The result is conceived as a quiet, durable transformation — one that increases the apartment’s value and usability while preserving a restrained alpine atmosphere, adapted to both everyday comfort and mountain living.
